Lithuanian Championship 2016

Lithuanian Taekwondo championship was held in Vilnius 2 nd of April, 2016. Event gathered around 300 athletes from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Belarus and Russia. Tournament was succesful for “Tajanas” club member Povilas Morkunas. He won three fights against Latvian, Belarusian, Russian competitors and received Lithuanian champion title.

Gabriele Patcaitite and Kamile Dapkeviciute both were second. Justinas Kybartas, Dovydas Slimas and Orestas Ziupsnys placed 3 rd and were awarded for bronze medals. We are sharing the photos of the championship.

Taekwondo Lithuania Championship 2015

On March, 2016 National Lithuanian taekwondo open championship has been held in Vilnius, Lithuania. Competition has gathered 260 participants from 8 different countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates).

Taekwando fight club athletes had won 3 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze medals.

The main focus was on three Lithuanian fighters who will represent Lithuania in the World championship, which will be organised in May in Moscow, Russia. Athletes are from three cities – Gabija Janusauskaite, Aurimas Klemas from Siauliai and Gerda Gaizauskaite from Kaunas.

In Youth category (up to 63 kg) G. Janusauskaite has faced Arina Mitroscenko (Ukraine) and later in the final won against Aiste Taturiunaite from Vilnius.

Orestas Ziupsnys won 3 fights – 1 st place, Mantas Budrys thrumped in final (2:0) – 1 st place, Juste Norinkeviciute and Kamile Dapkeviciute were announced as 2 place winners. Laurynas Siumeta and Ugne Janusauskaite were 3 rd.

World Championship in Chelyabinsk

Taekwondo club “Tajanas” sportsmen have defended Lithuanian country pride in World Adult age group championship (Chlabisnk, Russia). Event has taken place on 2015m. May 12 – 18.

Gabija in category up to 57 kg fought two fights. She suceeded in the first one – against Airish athlete Cleir Toland (21), by result 9 – 2. Second match was lost to spanish native Calvo Gomes (24 m.). Result was 0 – 12. First round was very close and ended by draw, but in second lithuanian received a hit in the eye area which caused a injury. Gabija`s rival is well – known fighter, currently 2 nd in World ranking listing. C. Gomez lost to Japanese Mayu Hamada (20) in the final and became the silver medalist.

In the world championhip Gabija placed 18 th (lost against vice – champion). There were 51 athlete competing in -57 kg category. T. Janusauskas stated that „Its a great result, considering young age and injuries during the preparation for the championship. I believe that Gabija is one of the most perspective Lithuanian athletes and there will be achievements in the future.” World championship was highly competitive, due the number of participants – 872 fighters from 139 countries. Taekwondo club „Tajanas“ trainer Tadas Janusauskas was the leader of the team (attended all the official events) and coach at the same time.

LT Taekwondo federation recognized T. Janusauskas and his team members results as very good. We are grateful for possibility to participate in this world championship.

Championship in Strasbourg

Our fight club members Mantas Budrys and Ugne Janusauskaite were participants in Europe Juvenille (12 – 14 y. o.) championship (Strasbourg, France).
Mantas Budrys has demonstrated great result and thought his through to the quarter – final. He won against Italian Mattia Bronkoni 6-5, in the following fight with Ukranian Kobzan Kyrylu (7-2) he lost chances to bring the medal to Lithuania.
Mantas in final championship listing was ranked 5 – 8 place. 18 athletes were competing in the-57 kg category.
Ugne Janusauskaite lost the first fight to Bosnian Cranic Amica (0 – 12). For both – Mantas and Ugne this competition was the highest level event in their early career stage. Ugne was just nearly 12 years old.
Club members coach goals for this championship. T. Janusauskas was satisfied by the young sportsmen performance and aim for better results in the future.
